My grandma passed away in early 2019. I went with my mum to Nigeria for the burial in my grandma's home town of Ode-Remo.
Because she was of royal lineage she was given a funeral recognised by the Oba of the area. We danced and sang with Grandma all around the town for three hours. Revisiting the places & roads she would have known.
I initially thought to document my Mum & her journey dealing with the death of her mother. But in the midst parade my wandering eye got distracted by all the joy surrounding this sad occasion.
Mourning through the celebration of life. Even to this, this still makes me think how we deal with death can give us an insight into how we want to see the world. This what I captured as we all danced.
